Of the three verticals at DeHaat - Farmer, Input and Output - I was closely associated with output. This vertical allowed DeHaat to buy produce from farmers at a fair rate and sell it to bigger players in the market.
Automate the vendor payment requesting process which is currently done manually, increasing visibility and efficiency for all stakeholders involved.
I started out by educating myself about the current process and acquainting myself with the vocabulary used on ground. After understanding user problems, I created multiple wireframe on which the team conducted testing. After prototyping we measured the success of our product by defined success metric.
The best thing about this problem statement was the accessibility to my users. I conducted several interviews to understand and empathise with their situation. I learned how data is conslidated and parked. I also got involved in the conversation happening between various stakeholders. The business team was also very keen on sharing insights and discussing problems.
Apart from primary research I also took a look at the invoicing softwares dominating the market. This helped me understand how the differences between ground and business expectations.
The current solution involved a lot of redundant steps and it was very difficult to communicate with all the stakeholders. Shown below is a simplified version of what was taking place before the introduction of payment automation module.
